Every tool in your stack ships with a default definition of every key metric. Your CRM calculates ARR from opportunity amounts. Your CS platform calculates ARR from subscription records. Your billing system calculates ARR from invoiced revenue. All three should match. They almost never do. The discrepancy is not a bug. It is an architecture gap. What criteria must a deal meet to sit in commit? Evidence checkpoints, not just stage. A rep cannot commit a deal without meeting the published definition.

Net Revenue Retention
What counts as expansion. What counts as contraction. How mid-term adjustments are allocated. One formula that does not change when the quarter is hard.
05 · CHURN RATE

Three different numbers for the same word. Pick one as the primary. Report all three if needed. Do not let finance and CS report different ones and call it the same metric.

Gross margin in or not
CAC payback with gross margin is the useful number. Without it, you are measuring revenue coverage, not payback. Pick the right formula and enforce it across board reporting.
